Regular Linear Systems Governed by a Boundary Controlled Heat Equation

چکیده
In this paper we consider a class of distributed parameter systems governed by the heat equation on bounded domains in Rn. We consider two types of boundary inputs (actuators) and two types of boundary outputs (sensors). Allowing for any possible pairing of these, we consider a total of four possible arrangements of our system. The first type of input (control) is through the Neumann boundary condition on a part of the boundary, together with a homogeneous Neumann boundary condition on the remaining part of the boundary. For this type of input, the input space is infinite-dimensional. The second type of input (with a finite-dimensional input space) is obtained by imposing constant normal derivatives on each element of a finite partition of the boundary. The first type of output (observation) is given by evaluation (trace) of the state of the system on a part of the boundary, so that the output space is infinite-dimensional. For the second type of output (with a finite-dimensional output space), we again consider a partition of the boundary of the spatial domain (which may be different from the one considered for the inputs) and each output channel contains the average of the values of the state of the plant on one element of this partition. Our main result is that any possible combination of the aforementioned inputs and outputs provides a regular linear system.

Adaptive Unstructured Grid Generation Scheme for Solution of the Heat Equation
An adaptive unstructured grid generation scheme is introduced to use finite volume (FV) and finite element (FE) formulation to solve the heat equation with singular boundary conditions. Regular grids could not acheive accurate solution to this problem. The grid generation scheme uses an optimal time complexity frontal method for the automatic generation and delaunay triangulation of the grid po...
متن کاملH∞ Boundary Control of Semilinear Heat Processes and Distributed Mechanical Oscillators: an LMI Approach
Exponential stability analysis and L2-gain analysis are developed for uncertain distributed parameter systems. Scalar heat processes and distributed mechanical oscillators, governed by semilinear partial differential equations of parabolic and, respectively, hyperbolic types, are chosen for treatment. Sufficient exponential stability conditions with a given decay rate are derived in the form of...
متن کاملBoundary temperature reconstruction in an inverse heat conduction problem using boundary integral equation method
In this paper, we consider an inverse boundary value problem for two-dimensional heat equation in an annular domain. This problem consists of determining the temperature on the interior boundary curve from the Cauchy data (boundary temperature and heat flux) on the exterior boundary curve. To this end, the boundary integral equation method is used. Since the resulting system of linea...

In this chapter, we continue our ascent of the dimensional ladder for linear systems. In Chapter 6, we embarked on our journey with equilibrium configurations of discrete systems — mass–spring chains, circuits, and structures — which are governed by certain linear algebraic systems. In Chapter 9, the dynamical behavior of such discrete systems was modeled by systems of linear ordinary different...

We consider a boundary element collocation method for the heat equation. As trial functions we use the tensor products of continuous piecewise linear splines with collocation at the nodal points. Convergence and stability is proved in the case where the spatial domain is a disc. Moreover, practical implementation is discussed in some detail. Numerical experiments confirm our results.
